Alexander Gunkel

born 1968

After his studies of law, Alexander Gunkel joined the Confederation of German Employers´ Association (Bundesvereinigung der Deutschen Arbeitgeberverbände BDA) in 1996. After having worked as a research assistant in the social security department, he became office manager for the BDA President and Director General. In 2003, Alexander Gunkel was nominated Member of the BDA Executive Board. He is also the alternating chairman of the Board of the German statutory pension insurance scheme.

Alexander Gunkel has been a member of the Social Advisory Council since 2004 and is its chair in 2024.
